During my whole education I always taught to love and respect my country, Bharat. And I really used to feel high and proud when I see live march past on Republic Day. When I see the weapons, artillery, and fighter jets I became so excited that after the show I used to make drawing and sketches of jets. I had the names of those fighter jets on my finger. When I was asked what you want to become and why in 5th standard by our class teacher I wrote that I would like to join Forces, because I was highly inspired by the sacrifice of Bhagat Singh and Rajguru and many more as we read in text books.
After joining NCC, I felt and experienced the life of a soldier. As I was moving towards higher standards different types of development policies and human development plan inspired me and it was a fascination. That was the time when there was some patriotism left in people, I think.
But nowadays there are n numbers of reasons for not loving India (earlier I wrote it Bharat). Today every children has missed that charm I used to have for Bharat . Now they know the name of cricket team players first. Because it is always told the name India and even written on their favorite player’s shirt. … Naa it is not a big issue that they don’t know what Bharat is. And they know much about WWE wrestler than those patriotic heroes.
One thought is continuously disturbing me while writing about the changed behavior of today’s student . That is why they should respect this country? Why they should know about it ? as I usually do.
They are growing in the flood of high level scams. They are seeing news of inhuman acts, impunity, cruelty, rapes and addiction daily. They are having daily dose of these insane news. So if they want to show respect to country they don’t have any live role model and any example. This thought gets strong when they watch films. It is being tried hard to show and prove that “It is good to be bad “.
So, why they should respect nation and why they should think about humanity. Throat-cutting competition is also having some amount of credibility.
Even I am losing faith in this largest democratic, secular, integrated nation. All these three words are fading. Every day one can see news about something happened wrong intentionally. One can easily judge that the insanity level is increasing in the crimes.
I don’t feel pretty confident to ask these children and my colleagues to respect India. Because they have always some cross question and examples. Everyone is busy, but they have enough time to prove me crazy, they have enough time to blame the system. How easily they take a safe move on the national issues. “It is not our work, what we can do, why we should do … NETAGIRI KAB SE KARNE LAG GAYA TU” and Lo! My spirits goes down…. But it’s me, I somehow get charged and energized again from my source of inspiration . May be I made myself look crazy but what to do ? My nation is screaming and demanding, gotta GO!
